Welcome to IOMA

IOMA was founded in 1923, making it one of the oldest petroleum tade associations in the country. Our Regular Members are independent motor fuel distributors who market in one or more of the New England States. Our members supply the New England Gas Station Market - “One Stop Shopping” - Those states include Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont and Maine. As a group, independently owned distributors supply over 50% of the gasoline sold in New England. Combined with our Affiliate members (All the regional Major Oil Companies) we are responsible for close to 70% of the motor fuel sales throughout New England. IOMA’s regular members are involved in all aspects of motor fuel marketing, including the construction and operation of service stations, convenience stores, car washes, truck stops, marinas, mini marts, etc. In addition to its Regular and Affiliate Members, IOMA welcomes Associate member who provide goods and services within our industry.
Associate & Affiliate members are invited to attend regular meetings, workshop/seminars, a summer golf outing and a fall social event which includes in some years, a table top trade show. With your membership you will receive an Annual Membership Directory in which all Associate and Affiliate members are listed. We mail 1500 of the highest volume independent facility-operators throughout New England, our membership directory. We sent a separate mailer directing those same prospects to our web site.

IOMA Marketer Members and Affiliate Members combine to capture a significant market share of New England. In fact, many of our members market throughout the east coast and some of our members reach as far as Texas and beyond.
In fact, we capture 80% of the independent facility market in New England. These facilities include; service bays, convenience stores and food-service operations. The directory/resource guide will be a reference tool for IOMA member jobber/wholesalers in addition to all of the major brand refiner/marketers.
IOMA has a NEW data base. We will mail the directory to over 1500 of the highest-volume, enddealers throughout New England. There is no better medium to capture this market.
Membership in IOMA includes relentless scrunity of state legislation in addition to birddogging regulations. And, here is an important point to remember. Most associations prepare testimony to address issues once a regulation goes to public hearing. IOMA addresses the regulation at the point of conception. We do this by being actively involved with various state committees in addition to, over time, winning the repect of regulators. Regulators would rather deal with IOMA from the get-go rather facing us at the goal-line. This was true with both N.H. and MA Stage 2 and UST regulations. We actually collaborated with both state agencies in helping them develop those regs. And, as I am writing this, IOMA just met with MassDEP to review the NRD regs they are thinking of developing. If you know a marketer who is not a member of IOMA - look them straight in the eye and ask them to - "keep it real!" Join the community that serves the industry and adds real dollars to our bottom lines.
In the end, it’s all about trust, is it not? And, what better way to develop trust than networking with your target audience? And, what better way to developing continuing opportunities to network than an IOMA membership? It is not by accident that IOMA conducts a continuum of quarterly events to put you in front of the CEOs, Owners, and decision makers of very significant companies.
